Noise Reduction
& Sharpening

Noise reduction and sharpening help improve the overall clarity of a photo. After adjusting exposure, contrast, and color, some images may still appear grainy or slightly soft. In this guide, the image has noticeable noise, so the editing focuses on reducing grain while also bringing back detail and sharpness.

Step 1: Denoise

The Denoise (Profiled) module is used to reduce visible noise and grain in the image. Since this photo contains a noticeable amount of noise, the strength slider is increased to smooth out the grain and create a cleaner-looking image. This helps darker areas look less rough and improves the overall quality of the photo.

Step 2: Sharpen

The Sharpen module is used to make details in the image appear clearer and more defined. After noise reduction, some details can look softer, so the radius and amount sliders are increased to bring back edge detail and improve sharpness. This helps the image look cleaner and more focused without making it appear overly sharp or unnatural.
